Solar Heating

Central Otago is blessed with some of the highest sunlight hours in New Zealand. As a result your water heating needs could be met almost entirely by solar energy. It is now cost effective to look to the sun for your primary means of water heating. Solar energy is a smart move – not only will you save money over the long term but it is an environmentally sustainable solution.

Ideally your property needs to have a large north - facing roof (most Wanaka sections are suitable), however, solar energy solutions are possible in a range of locations and can be used for water heating whatever your anticipated usage. We are happy to talk through your requirements to advise on the best option for your home or building.

Jarvie Plumbing only uses plate panel solar collectors which we have found to be more reliable than tube collectors.

Solar energy is also an option for passive floor heating. We have a long working relationship with Alternative Heating Ltd and are the approved installer of Floor*Store. A solar floor heating system, Floor*Store effectively distributes heat evenly throughout the whole house.

When to talk to us:
It is recommended that you discuss your energy requirements with us at the design stage before your plans are confirmed. We will review your plans with you and make recommendations on the best solution and product.
Solar energy may also be possible on existing properties or can be introduced at the time of alterations.
