Jarvie Plumbing Ltd is able to offer the complete range of gas fitting services including water heating, space heating, and the installation of cooking appliances. We have particular expertise in the installation and maintenance of appliances for restaurant fit outs.

Solar Heating

Central Otago is blessed with some of the highest sunlight hours in New Zealand. As a result your water heating needs could be met almost entirely by solar energy. It is now cost effective to look to the sun for your primary means of water heating. Solar energy is a smart move – not only will you save money over the long term but it is an environmentally sustainable solution.

Ideally your property needs to have a large north - facing roof (most Wanaka sections are suitable), however, solar energy solutions are possible in a range of locations and can be used for water heating whatever your anticipated usage. We are happy to talk through your requirements to advise on the best option for your home or building.

Jarvie Plumbing only uses plate panel solar collectors which we have found to be more reliable than tube collectors.

Solar energy is also an option for passive floor heating. We have a long working relationship with Alternative Heating Ltd and are the approved installer of Floor*Store. A solar floor heating system, Floor*Store effectively distributes heat evenly throughout the whole house.

Waterproofing – Butynol (rubber) membrane application

We are able to install rubber membrane as a waterproofing solution in a number of locations:

Flat or low pitch roofs
Decks
Flashing details
Swimming pools
Foundations –where the water table is high

We are the approved applicator of Butynol – the recommended water proofing product for cost effectiveness and durability.

We are also an approved Shelterbit applicator, a bitumen torch on product, recommended for areas with a low water table.

Waste Water Tanks – Aerorated waste water management systems

Where your property cannot be connected to a reticulated sewage service we offer a range of options for the disposal of wastewater.

It is our preference to install Hynds Environmental tanks, wherever suitable, as this is the most environmentally sensitive solution to the disposal of wastewater. No nasty chemicals like those found in septic tanks and no run off of untreated grey water into the ground. In fact, the treated water from a Hynds Environmental tank is used to water your garden.

We are the exclusive approved installer of Hynds environmental tanks in Central Otago.

Water Treatment

There are a range of options for the provision of water to your property and the manner in which you may wish to have your water treated. For example, we can advise you on purification, sterilisation, filtration and water softening techniques.

We can also advise you on your likely on-going maintenance requirements for a water treatment system and can supply the necessary parts.

When to talk to us:
If you are developing a section which is not connected to a reticulated water system (for example a life style block) it is recommended that you talk to us before your plans are finalised and any work has commenced. It is possible to introduce filter systems to existing properties at any time.

Jarvie Plumbing Ltd has a particular focus on meeting all maintenance needs and being able to respond to urgent call outs at any time.
